Research Interests

• My primary research interest is Natural Language Processing. I'm interested in the use of machine learning techniques for the development of flexible NLP systems, systems that can process interlanguages, such as Spanglish. I also believe that machine learning alone will not solve completely all the NLP problems. Thus, I am also trying to discover new and better ways of incorporating language knowledge into learning algorithms.

I'm a member of the Interactive Systems Group (ISG) at UTEP. We meet wekly to discuss research related to human-computer interaction, computational linguistics and spoken-language systems.
